Class Description:
Alebrije's are colorful, whimsical sculptures of mythical creatures that are part of Mexican folk art and Aztec folklore. The word "Alebrije" was created specifically for this style of art and has no direct translation in English. Alebrijes are considered spirit guides that connect spirits and the real world, and help people become who they are supposed to be. Julia will demo and help you paint your Alebrije that is carved by her husband Juan. All supplies will be provided.
About the Artist:
Top Oaxacan artist Julia Fuentes is the daughter of the world-famous first-generation carver Epifanio Fuentes. She studied fine art at the Oaxaca Bellas Artes School and graduated as an Art Teacher. He husband Jose Juan dedicates himself to the carvings of these fantastic pieces while Julia crates the painting and colors that Oaxaca is famous for. The couple’s work has gained international acclaim for the complexity of their carvings and for a painting style that reigns at the top of their craft.

Cancellation Policy:
WAC requests that you cancel no less than 5 days before a scheduled class or workshop. This gives us the opportunity to fill the class. Cancellations made up to five days before the start of any class or workshop will receive full credit towards another class or workshop or a refund less a 25% cancellation fee. No refunds or credit will be issued within 5 days before the start of a class or workshop for any reason, including illness. Additionally, there are no refunds for no-shows or for withdrawal after classes or workshops begin. If for any reason WAC and/or its instructor must cancel a class then the choice of either a credit or full refund will be given. Credit for classes and workshops must be used within one year.
