About this event
Built on a Strong Foundation: Western Women Artists
This special presentation will be given by Dr. Tricia Loscher, the Chief Curator of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum.
Through a generous, recent pledge, the DCWM will be enabled to acquire the works of early Western women artists. These works will join with its already strong collection of contemporary Western women artists acquired through Cowgirl Up! In addition to being the Chief Curator at the DCWM, Dr. Loscher holds the title of inaugural Dita and John Daub Curator of Western Women's Art and will be key to guiding the Museum to the very top of preeminent Western art collections by women.
Dr. Loscher holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Arizona as well as a master of arts, and a bachelor of arts in art History from Arizona State University. Hailing from Wickenburg, Dr Loscher's connection to the Southwest runs deep. In her previous role as chief curator and assistant museum director at Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West, Dr. Loscher created a profound museum experience for visitors and curated successful exhibitions featuring many Western artists, including Maynard Dixon and Ed Mell.
