Upcoming Events:On Friday, March 12, Gary Beck will teach a class in clay-working titled "Creating a Perfect Cylinder." This informative and interesting workshop will enable you to make vases, utensil holders, and other household items from clay. Clay and tools will be provided. You will learn how to decorate your creations as well. Most of us have seen Garys beautiful artwork on display at our club. This is an opportunity to learn from a Master of this medium, and is a must for anyone interested in advancing in the art form. The class runs from 9 am 4 pm. The cost is only $40 for members and $60 for non-members. Register on the sign-up sheet in the entrance to the club. Our April 14th and 15th workshop will feature the animal art of Linda Walker. She last taught at our club in 2008, and is back by popular demand to teach more of her artistic techniques in all mediums in the portrayal of animals. The workshop is on Wednesday and Thursday and the cost is $80 for the two days. Once again, remember that space is limited and the sign-up sheet is filling up fast. We will take no more than 14 students. This is the last scheduled workshop for the year. You will find enrollment sheets for these classes on the table in the entrance way. Sign up as soon as possible--class size is limited. For more information, email Harold Nuoffer at hnuoffer@aol.com On March 25th, were going to the Apache Junction and Tortilla Flats area. Apache Junction is a little over a two-hour drive from Wickenburg, (about a half-hour closer for our Surprise artists). In the morning, well go to Canyon Lake, and maybe have lunch at Tortilla Flats. In Mid-afternoon, we can circle back and catch the sun reflecting off the Superstition Mountains at Lost Dutchman State Park. This is an ambitions schedule, but I think it will be worth it to give everyone a taste of something different to photograph, draw, and paint. Lost Dutchman State Park is scheduled to close on June 1st, so this may be our last opportunity to go there. Directions: From Wickenburg, get on the eastbound Loop 101, either by taking Hwy 60 to Hwy 74 to I-17 to East-loop 101, or, from Surprise, taking Bell Rd. to Loop 101 and then go East. Either way, take the East Superstition Freeway to Idaho Road at Exit 196 in Apache Junction. Turn left on Idaho Road and go back under the freeway about a block. On your right is a big service station and mini-mart. We will meet there at 9:00 am and buy the $6 per car Tonto passes we need to park along Canyon Lake. The Wickenburg Art Club will hold its Spring Artists at Work Art Show and Sale on Saturday, April 10th at the Wickenburg Art Club building. This is an opportunity for two dozen juried members of the Club to exhibit their work, demonstrate their techniques to visitors, and sell their art. Attendance is free and open to the public. Participation is free and open to all juried WAC members, but space is limited. We will have panels for hanging art, tables, and case space. Setup will be Friday, April 9th from 2 pm to 5 pm, and we need volunteers to help with the setup and cleanup. Sign up sheets for volunteers and exhibitors are on the Clubhouse foyer table.
